The spokesman of the operations chamber of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos (Solid Structure) Operation, colonel Mohammed Al-Ghasri, said Wednesday that the first stage of the operation has come to an end after liberating Abugrein, Zamzam, Al-Gaddahiya, Abu Najeim, and Al-Wishka by the forces appointed by the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government.

In a statement from in front of the Commercial Bank branch at the heart of Abugrein district Wednesday afternoon, Al-Ghasri said, “Libyans, I am glad to inform you of the victory of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces as they were able to defeat the IS terrorist militias back to the fringes of Sirte city and liberated the areas of Abugrein, Zamzam, Al-Gaddahiya, Abu Najeim, and Al-Wishka.”

Al-Ghasri added that such a victory came after fierce battles against the IS militants; however, the operation’s forces could stay focused on applying the well-put and highly professional military tactics given to them.

“Our hearts go out to the families of the fighters killed in the clashes, yet we assure them that we are keen on pursuing in the Al-Bunyan AL-Marsoos operation until we have freed all Libya from terrorist groups.” Al-Ghasri indicated.

It is worth mentioning that clashes have renewed earlier today as IS militants tried to retake Al-Wishka town, which they lost Tuesday, using car bombs. However, Al-Bunyan AL-Marsoos forces foiled the terrorists’ attempt and boosted their control and positions around Al-Khamseen checkpoint, 50 km to the west of Sirte.
