The spokesman of the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos (Solid Structure) operations chamber, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, has confirmed that the battle to free Sirte from IS terrorists is led solely by Libyan senior military leaders and soldiers, refuting news that says there are foreign forces or foreign military experts helping them on the ground.

In a press statement, Al-Ghasri denied Saturday the existence of British or Italian forces in the battlefield against IS militants, stressing “we free our homeland on our own.”

Al-Ghasri indicated that the forces of the Al-Bunyan AL-Marsoos have caused IS militants considerable loss among their fighters, killing at least 700 of them, among whom there were many senior leaders, since the start of the operation that aimed at eradicating them from Libya, pointing out that IS groups still possess massive power in their stronghold, Sirte.

“The leadership of the joint operations chamber demanded some necessary logistic items and equipment from the UN-proposed government and meanwhile, were call on the UN Security Council to lift the arms embargo on Libya.” Al-Ghasri remarked.

He continued, “the arms embargo is costing us a lot of lives among our forces, besides the civilians who lose their lives constantly due to the huge number of implanted land mines, which go unnoticed as we lack the equipment needed to detect such mines.”

Al-Ghasri concluded by saying that Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos did not ask for combat items, but it asked for logistic ones such as Night Vision Devices (NVD), demining and mine-detecting devices and bullet-proof armors.
