The member of the High Council of State, Mansour Al-Hasadi, denounced the siege that is laid on Derna by Dignity Operation forces, saying the constraint on daily living needs of the people in Derna – such as cooking gas, medicines and fuel – will make the city a big mass detention.
Al-Hasadi also mentioned the strictness and bans on the residents’ movement in and out of the city with the beginning of the new school year and the coming of winter.
In a statement Tuesday, Al-Hasadi added that what the city is going through reminds him of the Italian Briga and Agila detention; however, “it is even worse as this new one is created by our fellow citizens in Libya, not by Italian fascists.” He remarked.
“The House of Representatives in Tobruk takes the blame for the current situation in Derna and all those who bomb Derna and besiege it – on top of them, Khalifa Haftar, - will be brought to justice sooner or later.” Al-Hasadi indicated.
“Yesterday, Dignity Operation forces did not allow the Red Cross aids to enter the city, which should be treated as a humanitarian crime that is up for punishment by international and national laws.” He added.
Omar Al-Mukhtar military operations room of Dignity Operation has been besieging Derna for months disallowing cash, cooking gas, fuel, medicines and other basic needs from entering the city except for scarce exceptions.
Earlier, a woman had to give birth in a taxi after the militias besieging Derna refused to allow her to go to the hospital.
The newborn died hours later of poor medical care.
