The deputy head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed Wednesday with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States (US) embassy in Tripoli, Leslie Ordman, ways to advance the political process and reach holding elections as per a consensual constitutional basis, discussing in a meeting in Tunisia the importance of the national reconciliation project to achieve peace and stability in the country.

Al-Lafi indicated that the Presidential Council was moving forward with new steps for the national reconciliation project after the important successes achieved in previous forums, so that there is a correct constitutional framework based on a comprehensive consensus that leads to elections.

He also said the Presidential Council is always trying to create consensus among all political parties in Libya and to support the meetings of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC).

Meanwhile, Ordman said the efforts of the Presidential Council to reach consensus among all political parties, referring to the Presidential Council's efforts in the national reconciliation project to start a real elections project that achieves stability in the country.
