‎The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Lafi discussed during his visit to Japan with Japanese Foreign Minister, Takeshi Iwaya, enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including peacebuilding efforts.

‎According to the Japanese Embassy in Libya, Minister Iwaya welcomed at the beginning of the meeting the visit of the Libyan Vice President to Japan, which followed his previous visit in January of last year, stressing the need to increase the frequency of exchange of visits by officials from the two countries.

‎Minister Iwaya also expressed his thanks and appreciation for Al-Lafi's efforts in Libyan national reconciliation, and voiced his hope for achieving political stability in Libya by holding national elections and forming a unified government.

‎Al-Lafi also expressed the role and efforts of the Presidential Council and the government to achieve more stability in Libya by boosting national reconciliation and holding national elections in the future.

‎The two sides agreed to activate personal bilateral exchanges and enhance cooperation in areas leading to achieving peace and stability in Libya. They exchanged views on cooperation in international forums, the situation in East Asia and the Middle East, Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Sahel region, and agreed to continue working together.
