The deputy head of Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Lafi reiterated the importance for the constitutional talks in Cairo to be successful in order to reach consensus in order to satisfy the aspirations of Libyans in holding elections.

These remarks came in a meeting for Al-Lafi with the Italian envoy, Nicola Orlando, and Italian ambassador Giuseppe Buccino, and reviewed the latest political developments in Libya, as Orlando reiterated the importance of continuing the political track to reach holding parliamentary and presidential elections as per a constitutional basis agreed on by all political parties.

Orlando also reiterated Rome’s support for constitutional talks of the House of Representatives and High Council of State in Cairo to organize free and fair elections whose results are acceptable for all parties and can achieve stability.

Al-Lafi hailed the efforts of Italy in supporting the political track in Libya and consensus among parties leading to an end to the Libyan crisis.
