The deputy head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, responded to the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah's verbal attack on the National Reconciliation Conference, which was held from January 8 to 12.

Al-Lafi wrote on his Facebook on Saturday that reconciliation among Libyans is not a field of trade or political bidding, saying everyone works in their own way, and sees people with their own sight.

During his participation in the Women's Forum in Misrata on Saturday, Dbeibah criticized the National Reconciliation Conference, without naming it, saying national reconciliation "should not take place through foreign or international intelligence, or in the most luxurious hotels."

He said that those who participated in the reconciliation were "criminals who are trying to settle their criminal matters and kill Libyans," adding that they must be tried and the judiciary must take measures against them because reconciliation can only be brought about by the pure, the righteous and the patriotic Libyans.

The Presidential Council held preparatory meeting for the national reconciliation conference in Tripoli with foreign officials' presence, but the High Council of State and House of Representatives refused to attend and some Gaddafi's regime supporters spoke of their opposition to the flag and anthem of the state of Libya. This dispute led to some parties, like councils of elders in Tripoli, Misrata and Tajoura, to reject the Conference and described it as dubious.
