The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, said elections are priority for the Government of National Unity (GNU) as it is working on becoming the last interim government in Libya.
Al-Mangoush added in a lecture she gave at King's College London that there are challenges facing the GNU and it's not a perfect government but is trying hard to pave the way for elections.
Al-Mangoush indicated that holding the elections is linked to reaching a constitutional basis, adding that the GNU has done "a great job in securing the country compared to previous years, and made an appreciable effort in providing services to the people."
She also participated in Rome Med 2022 conference at the invitation of her Italian counterpart, saying the economic impact of the war in Ukraine on the fragile countries needs solidarity from the international community to contain any crises stemming from that war.
Al-Mangoush said on Twitter that she reaffirmed that there are close views between the GNU and the international and European position in support of ending the transitional stages and going to elections in Libya, confirming the government's readiness to secure elections.
