The Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush met with her Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, on Saturday, and discussed Rome's support for holding elections as soon as possible in Libya.
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of Al-Mangoush's participation at the Rome Med 2022 conference, reviewed bilateral relations and ways to develop and enhance them, the Libyan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It said the meeting discussed the possibility of holding elections, as they are the ideal solution for stability in Libya, in neighboring countries and the Mediterranean.
Al-Mangoush and Tajani also discussed regional and international developments, in addition to the file of illegal immigration, and Italy's role in supporting Libya's stability and cooperation in the economic and energy fields.
Al-Mangoush said that Libya was ready to support the Italian initiative in developing the field of agriculture and energy supplies, to be part of the solution in the Mediterranean region. The remarks were made in her participation in the second day of the Mediterranean Dialogue conference, which discussed on Saturday the food crisis in the world.
