The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, discussed on Monday, with the Maltese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Evarist Bartolo, strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Al-Mishri handed the Maltese minister a written communication in which he expressed his appreciation to the President of Malta for his country's "positive role" in resolving the Libyan crisis and making the political dialogue a success, in addition to the recent rescue operation that took place in the Mediterranean.

The meeting discussed the talks hosted by Tunisia and the proposed timetable for holding the elections on December 24, 2021, according to the HCS statement, noting that Al-Mishri has also welcomed the agreement.

The HCS head said that the constitutional referendum could be held on February 17th, stressing that the council is keen to see Libya move forward to the desired stage of stability on solid foundations.
