The High Council of State's (HCS) Head Khaled Al-Mishri received at his office Monday the UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis, to discuss the outcomes of the Libya Stabilization Conference that took place in Tripoli a few days ago.

Both sides agreed that supporting the conference is essential for achieving security and stability in the country.

According to the HCS media office, the meeting also touched upon the political situation in Libya and the latest developments regarding the electoral process.

Al-Mishri emphasized the council's keenness to see the elections proposed for next December held as scheduled on agreed constitutional bases, under the Constitutional Declaration and the Libyan Political Agreement.

Meanwhile, the UN envoy commended the serious steps taken by the HCS and their conformity with the Political Agreement and the constitutional declaration.

The two sides agreed to continue consultations to reach a consensus on the election laws and to make all efforts to solve the obstacles that prevent the elections from proceeding as planned.
