The member of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Mohammed Al-Raeid, said that the statement issued by the 101 members related to supporting the UN-proposed government, headed by Fayez Al-Sirraj, is regarded as an endorsement to the government.

Al-Raeid said in a statement Monday that the HoR’s Speaker, Aqilah Saleh is hampering the meetings in all ways possible to him, saying that Saleh’s current meetings with the notables represent only him as they are not official being held outside the HoR’s headquarters and pointing out that he is against both the military and ideological ruling in Libya.

“Not reaching quorum of the HoR members got in the way of holding a meeting in Ghadames city; however, once quorum is reached, the meeting would take place and would be chaired by Second Vice Speaker, Ehmeida Huma.” He added.

Previously, a number of HoR members issued a statement speaking out their approval of the UN-proposed government after a meeting in Tobruk was prohibited by force by anti-UN-proposed government members. Hence, they decided to hold a session in Ghadames city, yet it was also hindered due to tribal pressure on some of the members, which led to their withdrawal.
