The President of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Jan Kubis, the Commission’s plan to implement the election in Libya on track for December 24.

This came when Al-Sayeh hosted the UN envoy on Tuesday morning at the official headquarters of the HNEC, where both parties discussed Security Council Resolution No. (2570), for the year 2021 relating to the general elections scheduled for December 24 next.

Further discussed at the meeting was the roadmap set to lead to July 1, which is hoped will be the actual date for the implementation of the preparations of the elections and the onset of wading through the legalities and conditions for the elections.

The meeting reviewed the Commission’s objective of implementation of the elections, along with methods of overcoming obstacles, which are likely to surface, in order to try to implement the process for the general elections.
