Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, reviewed on Tuesday, ways to support general elections and municipal council elections, during his meeting with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program, Sophie Kemkhadze, and the European Union ambassadors representing donor countries through the United Nations Development Fund.

This came during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the “Promoting Elections for the Libyan People” project, in the presence of members of the Board of Directors of the Commission, according to a statement issued by the Commission.

The attendees discussed reviewing the project plans, evaluating the 2024 plan, discussing the latest electoral arrangements, and the Commission’s readiness to implement the upcoming entitlements.

The donors praised “the efforts made by the Commission to ensure the success of the stages of implementing the electoral process for the municipal council elections (first group) 2024, and to bring voters to the ballot boxes on November 16, 2024.”

The date of the municipal elections was set for November 16, after several postponements by the High National Elections Commission since last June, to allow for wider participation in the voting process after it was held for the first time in 2013.
