The President of the State Council, Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli, rejected Ibrahim Dabbashi’s statement at the last UN Security Council session, in which he claimed that he is still Libyas ambassador to the UN despite being dismissed by all political bodies of the previous transitional stage.

In a letter to the Head and members of the UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council (PC), Al-Sweihli said the statement was a mockery of the sacrifices of Libyans, who are still fighting honorably the extremist groups of IS in Sirte liberation battle, adding that Dabbashi tried to distort them by accusing them of being affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

He also urged the PC to end the ongoing insolence that Dabbashi is practicing in the name of the Libyan people and to take legal measures against “this employee” who violated all diplomatic conventions and crossed all lines as he did not recognize any legitimate authority in Libya, let alone using his post to put forward his personal viewpoint and a specific agenda that doesn’t represent Libya’s foreign policies.
