Minister of Local Governance, Badr Al-Din Al-Toumi, has held talks with Nicoletta Giordano, head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Libya, to strengthen cooperation on migration-related challenges.
During the meeting, Al-Toumi highlighted the importance of collaboration with the IOM to help municipalities manage migration issues more effectively.
He stressed that enhanced coordination could also address public concerns surrounding the issue.
Giordano outlined the organization’s recent efforts in Libya and emphasized the need for closer cooperation with the ministry in supporting migrants and displaced persons.
She also proposed joint initiatives focusing on disarmament, reintegration, and municipal capacity-building to promote local stability.
