Algeria renewed its call to find a settlement to the Libyan crisis based on a consensual solution, and to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation that leads to the holding of elections to enable the Libyan people to choose their representatives at the level of political institutions.
Algerian news agency said these remarks came in a statement made by Algeria's ambassador to Libya, Suleiman Shaneen, at a ceremony held Monday at his country's embassy in Tripoli on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian revolution in the presence of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, ministers, and members of the House of Representatives and High Council of State.
The ambassador referred to Algeria's position toward the Libyan crisis, which is based on rejecting foreign interference in internal affairs, supporting the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya, and calling for a settlement to this crisis within the framework of a Libyan-Libyan consensual solution.
He also hailed the support provided by the Libyan people to their Algerian brothers and sisters during the struggle for liberation and independence in the revolution time, while Prime Minister Dbeibah underscored Algeria's position in support of the Libyan people and the sovereignty as well as the unity of Libya at the current period.
Algeria has reiterated its recognition and support, time and time again, for the Government of National Unity as the legitimate government in Libya, saying it refuses to recognize Fathi Bashagha's government that is designated by the House of Representatives.
