Algeria

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep concern over the recent mobilization and deployment of forces in various regions of Libya, especially toward the southern and western regions.

Algeria said that it fully and completely shares the concerns expressed by the United Nations regarding these mobilizations, stressing that stopping clashes between "the opposing brothers" is a very important gain that must be preserved at all costs.

Algeria called on all Libyan parties to show wisdom, self-restraint and insight to spare their country and people the tragic consequences of the resumption of fighting.

The Algerian Foreign Ministry called on the Libyan parties to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, achieve reconciliation between Libyans, reunify institutions, and put an end to foreign interference.

The UN mission, in addition to France, Italy, Germany, Britain and the United States, expressed their concerns about the ongoing military movements in the southwestern region of Libya, noting that such movements risk escalation and violent confrontation in light of the ongoing stalemate.

The movements of Haftar's forces toward the southwest have angered the military forces in the west, as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush, instructed the army units to raise the level of readiness to repel any possible attack. Haftar's forces announced afterwards that the intention of their movements was to secure the areas of Sabha, Murzuq, Al-Qatrun, and Brak Al-Shati, as part of what it said was a plan to secure the south.
