The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on Libyans in Tripoli to adopt dialogue as the only path to resolve disputes.

In a statement, the ministry said Algeria received with “deep concern and distress” news of the renewed armed clashes between “brothers in Tripoli,” which have resulted in loss of life and squandered the country’s vital resources “in vain and to no avail.”

“In light of these dangerous developments,” the statement continued, “Algeria renews its sincere and urgent call to all Libyan brothers to embrace dialogue as the sole option to resolve differences, to act with a high sense of national responsibility, and to prioritize the supreme interest of the Libyan people above all considerations and calculations.”

Algeria also stressed that “now more than ever, fraternal Libya needs the unity and reconciliation of all its sons — far from the logic of division and fragmentation — to advance the political process under UN auspices toward the long-awaited solution.”

Meanwhile, the Algerian Consulate General in Tripoli urged Algerian nationals to remain indoors due to the deteriorating security situation in the city over the past few hours.

The consulate reminded members of the Algerian community in Libya of local authorities’ instructions to stay at home for their safety and called on them to take the warning seriously and exercise caution.
