The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, attended the opening of the forum for implementing the Arab strategy for volunteering work and the plan to support the rights of people with disabilities during epidemics and crises.
The opening ceremony of the forum took place on Sunday in the capital, Tripoli, and was organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, with the attendance of a number of Arab delegations, in addition to the member of the Presidential Council, Mossa Al-Koni, and government officials.
The Minister of Social Affairs, Wafaa Al-Kilani, said in the opening speech that volunteers had always been in the front lines to support citizens during times of crises and epidemics, stressing that ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities is an important indicator of progress and social cohesion. She pointed out that efforts were being made to enable volunteers to provide services to the fullest extent, especially in supporting persons with disabilities.
Al-Kilani announced the launching of an initiative for effective community partnership in cooperation with civil society to enhance the role of volunteering in building a strong and cohesive society.
Meanwhile, Dbeibah said that Libya would not allow the emergency situations in the Arab world to break the national resolve to achieve aspirations, referring in particular to the brutal aggression of the occupying entity against the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Dbeibah stressed the aspiration to "achieve stability in the region, adhere to achieving progress and reconstruction, and proceed with the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan." He noted that Libya "will always stand by the Arab and Muslim peoples and spare no effort in consolidating humanitarian work and supporting people with disabilities."
