The Arab Group at the United Nations has demanded the UN Security Council to adopt an immediate resolution to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza and secure a comprehensive ceasefire.
During a Security Council session focused on the situation in Palestine, Libya’s UN Envoy Taher El-Sonni, speaking on behalf of the Arab Group which Libya chairs for the month of April, urged the Council to ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid and to support renewed negotiations on the issue of hostages and detainees.
The group also voiced backing for two upcoming international conferences—one in Cairo on Gaza’s reconstruction and another on the two-state solution, co-sponsored by Saudi Arabia and France.
Condemning repeated Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Arab Group warned such actions heighten tensions and undermine regional stability.
It also reiterated its firm opposition to any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, a stance it said is supported by both the Islamic Group and many nations worldwide.
