The envoy of the African Union/ Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Congo-Brazzaville, Jean-Cloud Gakosso, visited Sabha on Sunday at the head of an AU delegation.

"The African Union's visit to Sabha comes to advance the African road map for national reconciliation in Libya," the AU official said, underscoring the importance of supporting Libya to overcome the challenges of this stage.

The African delegation included the Strategic Adviser/Director of the Court of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mohamed El Hassan Labat, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in Libya/ Head of the Liaison Office in Tunisia, Wahida Ayari, and the Congolese Ambassador to Libya, Haram Skaj.

The group held an expanded meeting in Sabha, with several mayors of the southern region, at the Sabha Municipal Council HQ.

Recently, Gakosso held talks with several parties during his visit to Tripoli and Benghazi to discuss the African road map.
