Austria expressed willingness to support a proposal to open airspace between Libya and Austria.

To discuss this matter, the Libyan ambassador to Austria/ permanent representative to international organizations, Osama Abdel-Hadi, met with an Austrian delegation headed by the Director General of Vienna International Airport.

The meeting dealt with the possibility of resuming air traffic between the two countries and operating three flights per week, according to the Hakomitna platform.

The governmental platform said the Austrian side welcomed the proposal and expressed readiness to implement the agreement as soon as possible.

This initiative follows an agreement the Ministry of Transport concluded with its Maltese counterpart, making it the first agreement related to opening European airspace to Libyan airlines.
