Authorities in the city of Al-Khums have shut down a bakery accused of using animal feed in the production of bread sold to the public, in what officials have described as a serious case of food fraud.
The Directorate of Environmental Sanitation Affairs, working in coordination with the Municipal Guard, discovered the violation during a routine inspection.
The bakery has since been closed, and the case referred to legal authorities for further action.
“This is a full-fledged crime that amounts to slow murder,” the Directorate said in a statement, condemning the act as a reckless endangerment of public health.
It urged swift legal measures to hold those responsible accountable and to deter similar offenses in the future.
Officials warned that tampering with basic food items poses a severe threat to public well-being and called for stricter oversight to prevent such violations.
