The head of the Bakers Syndicate, Akhris Muhammad, has said that the Ministry of Economy had formed two committees in the western and eastern regions to present a proposal regarding the frequent crises of flour shortage.

Muhammad explained that the Ministry of Economy received a proposal to establish a grain bureau, and the union is waiting on the results.

"The grain bureau would unify the types of wheat supplied, and only through it would credits be opened for its import," Muhammad explains.

He hinted at an agreement between traders and bakery owners to not saturate the market with flour in order to control its prices.

A new bread crisis is looming in the country in light of the shortage of wheat and the rise in flour prices, which brings to mind the bread crisis that broke out in early 2021 when the Bakers Syndicate and Bakery owners in Tripoli announced a strike until finding radical solutions to the issue.
