Bangladesh's interim Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus expressed his country's interest in importing oil from Libya, calling for cooperation between Dhaka and Tripoli in the file of illegal immigration and combating human trafficking.
This came during his reception of the Libyan ambassador to Bangladesh Abdul Mutalib Suleiman in his office on Sunday. Yunus said: "We do not support human trafficking. There are many people suffering from this matter, we must work together to stop the phenomenon."
He urged the Libyan ambassador to work to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries to increase trade and investment, inquiring about the possibility of importing Libyan oil, which would achieve mutual benefit, according to Bangladeshi media.
The Libyan ambassador expressed Tripoli's readiness to bring in Bangladeshi workers, including doctors and engineers, to develop the country, calling on students to enroll in the best Libyan universities.
He commended the "contribution of Bangladeshi workers to Libyan society," saying that they "play a greater role in the country, especially in the field of agriculture," speaking about some financial problems facing Bangladeshi doctors in Libya, but hoping that the issue would be resolved soon.
