The boycotting Tobruk Parliament member, Fathi Bashagha, said that calling for a meeting of the dialogue committee to discuss what they think is a violation of the political agreement items could lead to worsening the Libyan crisis and push the political track backward.

In a Facebook post, Sunday, Bashagha found it strange that some are really calling for such a meeting. “Where were these voices when the HoR violated the political agreement and removed (item 8) from the appendix rules.” He exclaimed.

“Some of the HoR members prevented other MPs from voting for the government, which is a flagrant violation and a use of force against the implementation of the political agreement.” He said, adding that the dialogue committee meeting could bring the country back to the drawing drawer as people in Tripoli have now welcomed the Presidential Council, which has also been backed by many municipalities and military councils across Libya, according to him.

He also stressed that keeping the political agreement away from any violations can be done by holding an HoR session in Tobruk with full quorum and allowing the MPs to freely vote as well as by amending the constitutional declaration as per the political agreement rules.

Bashagha indicated that such a meeting in such a controversial stage in the political track could also put an end to the current consensus and the PC as well as it could open the door for some demands that cannot be granted at this point.
