Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC), Abdullah Al-Lafi, met with the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily Monday for talks over Political and security developments and ways to advance efforts towards elections.

A statement by the PC media offices said that Bathily briefed Al-Lafi about his meeting with the security and military leaders in Tripoli on Sunday and his consultations with local and international parties on holding elections this year.

They also reviewed progress in the national reconciliation project, including convening a comprehensive conference in this respect.

Al-Lafi welcomed the efforts aimed at unifying the security and military institutions, hoping it would contribute to the success of the planned elections and help build bridges of trust among the competitors.

He reaffirmed the PC's continued support for Bathily's efforts to establish stability and advance national reconciliation.

On his part, Bathily praised the PC's work, considering it "a main partner" of the UN mission, according to the PC.
