The Benghazi IDPs Association has decried the silence of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government and the UNSMIL regarding the airstrikes and bombardment on Ganfouda district in particular, and Benghazi in general.

In a statement, the Benghazi IDPs Association said the irresponsibility and collaboration of the Presidential Council as regards Ganfouda, coupled with its lack of efforts toward having a ceasefire in Benghazi – as per the political agreement – is a blindingly obvious proof of the current mess in the country, which Benghazi is paying for.

“The silence of the UNSMIL and the national and international law agencies regarding Ganfouda, as well as exerting little, if any, efforts to stop the bombing in there question the real ends of the UNSMIL and put the slogans of humanitarianism, civilian security and human rights, which it advocates, at stake.” The statement reads.

The Association also sent a message to those involved in killing the civilians in Ganfouda, whether politicians, media figures, or military ranks, telling them that the blood they shed won’t fall short of retaliation because courts of war crimes in and out of Libya will be their doom sooner or later, pointing out that war crimes do not follow the statute of limitations.

What is happening in Ganfouda is a stigma and a humanitarian and poetical disgrace for all the officials in Libya as they continue to be paralyzed and very reluctant to help civilians out of the siege and every day killing done by Khalifa Haftar’s “war criminal” backed up by foreign warplanes, according to the statement.
