The United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Turkey, Egypt and the host, Germany have reiterated in a two-day meeting in Berlin - September 8-9 - their commitment to supporting a comprehensive path to elections in Libya as the only solution to the country's crisis.

The Italian envoy to Libya, Nicola Orlando, said on his Twitter that Rome had reaffirmed joint commitment to supporting an inclusive path to elections as soon as possible.

Orlando indicated that Italy believes elections are the only way to solve the prolonged crisis in Libya, reiterating the attendees' rejection of instability and unilateral actions in the country and their enthusiasm to work closely with the new UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily in support of a Libyan roadmap leading to the unity, stability and prosperity of the country.

Germany's special envoy to Libya Christian Buck said Saturday that the attendance of German Foreign Minister and UN Undersecretary of the Secretary General for Political and Peace-building Affairs in the two-day meeting on Libya reiterated Berlin's support for resuming political and electoral processes.
