The European Union will host a meeting of the EU, the United Nations, the African Union and the League of Arab States (Libya Quartet) in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss a peaceful solution to Libya's predicament, according to a statement by the EU High Representative and Vice-President Federica Mogherini.

The aim of the meeting is to support the UN mediation and regional work and to step up coordination to further advance the political process in Libya in respect of full Libyan ownership.

The new meeting will be the second for the Libya Quartet as it follows up on the meeting hosted by the League of Arab States in Cairo on 18 March 2017, when the attendees reiterated support for the Libyan Political Agreement.
