The Special Deterrence Force (SDF) and the 444th Brigade exchanged fire in densely populated areas of Tripoli Sunday night, bringing panic to local residents.

The tension between the two armed groups started early in the day when SDF snatched a senior commander from the 444th Brigade, Musab Zreig.

As night fell, the two sides engaged in a heavy exchange of fire for hours in Ain Zara, Jaraba Street, Ras Hassan, and Salah al-Din until mediators managed to end the fighting.

Two ambulances were hit by gunshots while there were no reports of casualties.

Tripoli Security Directorate confirmed that the situations are now normal and that all roads are open.
