The Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE) on Saturday said it would suspend the voter registration system temporarily due to some developing work on its electoral system.

In a statement, the committee clarified that the new system includes the latest technologies in the design and programming aspects, besides the protection of electronic systems used in elections.

The step comes within the framework of implementing the comprehensive digital transformation project and will result in a temporary suspension of voter and civil registration, the committee stated on Facebook.

According to the statement, the developing process will take a week starting from November 3.

It reassured residents of the municipalities targeted for local elections that it will announce the extension of the registration period for voters and candidates after launching its new electoral systems to ensure the effective broad participation of citizens.
