The head of the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE), Salem bin Tahia, announced that he had submitted his resignation from his position after eight years of work, wishing the best for his successor in completing the task of implementing the local entitlement.

"I submitted my resignation last April to the Government of National Unity, and I announce this now, after I learned of its acceptance, three months after its submission," Ben Tahia said in a press statement on Sunday.

Bin Tahia explained that his resignation was for personal reasons considering that eight years of work at the head of the CCMCE is enough.

On his Facebook account, Bin Tahia highlighted the achievements made during his term, including the elected municipal councils that are working on the ground, considering it as a first step towards building the local administration.
