CDA member: Benghazi is Libya’s capital or there would be no constitution
The member of the Constitution Drafting Assembly, Ibtisam Baheih, said from Al-Bayda city that if the constitution did not pronounce Benghazi as a capital of the country, then it will fail to take shape.
Baheih renewed in a press statement Saturday her rejection of the CDA’s meetings in Salalah city, Oman, and all of the outcomes that result from them saying that the decisions taken there are worthless.
“If Benghazi is not chosen as a capital of Libya, there would be no constitution.” She said, adding that Cyrenaica that has let go with its sovereignty since 1951 is now demanding part of its rights to be a capital of Libya.
Baheih indicated that Cyrenaica is the one to call the shots regarding the constitution even if the west has a military force of huge number, calling all Libyans to maintain the unity of Libya.
Worth mentioning that the CDA members who are meeting in Oman agreed Friday to name Tripoli as the capital, Benghazi as the headquarters of the legislative authority and Sabha as the headquarters of the constitution court.
