A ceiling of one of the old residential buildings in Tripoli has collapsed, authorities say, with no reports of casualties.

The Municipal Council of Central Tripoli said the ceiling of the entrance to one of the Italian-era residential buildings in Bel Khair area fell down on Sunday causing only material damage.

"The residents of the building have been sheltered in a temporary residence," the municipality said.

Many of Tripoli's old buildings are at risk of falling due to bad maintenance.

Last month, a ceiling at the Italian-built Al-Jala Hospital was collapsed, the third to fell down since 2013.
