The Presidential Council, in its capacity as the Chief Commander of the Army, ordered the immediate return of all forces to their barracks and prevented any movement without its permission.
The Presidential Council said in a statement on Friday that raising the level of readiness, mobilizing forces and authorizing their movement is the exclusive order of the Chief Commander of the Libyan Army. It added that "these actions may plunge the country into chaos and negatively affect the security situation as they are considered a violation of the ceasefire agreement."
The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, indicated that they are determined to take measures that ensure stability and reduce polarization. He explained that "the measures include joint management of public spending and oil revenues in a transparent manner to address bottlenecks and alleviate the suffering of people."
Menfi added that "it is time to achieve the goals of the security and military track through a unified national defense committee to ensure sovereignty and end foreign presence."
Tajoura, east of Tripoli, witnessed armed clashes on Friday between the Rahba Al-Duru and Al-Shaheeda Sabria battalions, which resulted in 9 deaths and 16 injuries, according to the Ambulance and Emergency Apparatus.
On Thursday, the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces affiliated with Haftar announced in a statement the movement of its military units to the southwestern areas.
The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush, instructed the army units to raise the level of readiness to repel any possible attack.
The Joint Operations Force, the National Support Forces Authority, and other bodies in the Libyan army had called on all their members to head to the headquarters with their equipment and supplies in preparation for repelling any possible attack.
