‎The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah stressed during his meeting on Wednesday with the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Koury, the need to hold accountable those responsible for the closure of the oil fields.

Dbeibah and Koury discussed the political developments in Libya and Koury's recent briefing at the UN Security Council, reaffirming the importance of cooperation with the United Nations to achieve consensus and overcome the current crises, and stressing the need for the support of the international community in this regard.

Dbeibah also pointed out the danger of closing the oil fields under flimsy pretexts, and the need to hold accountable those who carry out these shameful acts, considering the matter a crime punishable by law.

This comes after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, and the government assigned by the House of Representatives, headed by Osama Hamad, announced the closure of the oil fields in protest against the change of the board of the Central Bank of Libya by the Presidential Council.

The meeting also comes after Koury's meeting with Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi where they discussed the Central Bank crisis, and the UN mission's announcement of its intention to invite the Libyan parties concerned with the Central Bank crisis to dialogue in order to end the crisis.
