The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah followed up on the preparations of the Ministry of Sports and the Libyan Olympic Committee to participate in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games 2024, which will be held in the French capital, Paris.
This came during his meeting with the Minister of Sports, Abdel Shafie Al-Juwaifi, and the President of the Libyan Olympic Committee, Jamal Al-Zarroug, on Sunday.
Al-Zarroug said that Libya will compete in five individual sports: swimming, athletics, rowing, weightlifting, and archery. He hailed the support provided by the Government of National Unity to ensure effective and positive participation in the Olympics, stressing the readiness of the Libyan delegation in all aspects.
The Olympic torch relay began Sunday, in Paris, and former football star Thierry Henry was the first to carry it. The opening ceremony will be on July 26.
