The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah has applauded the passing of the Libya Stabilization Act by the US House of Representatives.

Dbeibah said Wednesday on Twitter that the "Congress confirmed by passing the Libya Stabilization Act that it is supporting stability in Libya, saying the bill allows US authorities to sanction spoilers of Libya's political process and stability.

The bill was approved by the US House of Representatives on Tuesday with an overwhelming majority. The Act says there will be US sanctions on human rights violations and a bigger role for Washington in resolving the Libyan crisis.

The Head of the Libyan-American Alliance Esam Omeish said the law gives legal authority for an executive order to slap sanctions on properties and ban visa issuance for people involved in violence in Libya.
