Libya’s Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has tasked the Ministry of Local Governance with preparing a comprehensive proposal for the establishment of a Development Fund for the Western Mountain municipalities, aiming to create “an effective financing tool to drive development in the area,” according to a statement posted on the government’s Facebook page.
This came during a meeting chaired by Dbeibah on Monday to follow up on the implementation of several development projects in the municipalities of the Western Mountain. The session focused on reviewing the progress of road projects, water supply systems, and healthcare services.
During the meeting, Dbeibah stressed the urgent need to prioritize the maintenance of main roads and the completion of stalled projects, emphasizing that improving infrastructure in the Western Mountain is a key priority in the government’s plan.
He also instructed officials to focus on upgrading the healthcare sector and completing construction and maintenance projects in hospitals across the municipalities, ensuring improved quality of medical services for citizens.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Transportation and Prime Minister’s Financial Advisor Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, Minister of Local Governance Badr Al-Deen Al-Toumi, Secretary-General of the Cabinet’s Office Rashed Abu Ghafa, Deputy Minister of Health Mohamed Al-Ghouj, along with the heads of executive agencies.
