GECOL2

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh has held talks with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to review preparations for the summer of 2025, with a focus on maintaining power stability across the country.

The meeting, which included the company’s chairman, the general director of production, and the director of strategic planning, also saw the attendance of the Minister of Transport acting as financial advisor to the prime minister, according to a statement from the government’s media office.

Discussions centred on the company’s schedule for routine maintenance and major technical overhauls, with officials stressing the importance of adhering to planned timelines.

The progress of new power stations was also reviewed, with an emphasis on ensuring they become operational as scheduled, in a bid to boost generation capacity and improve overall efficiency.

The government underlined the need to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply for the third consecutive year, particularly during the summer peak, to meet the growing demand from citizens.
