‎The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said that the Libyan political scene "is entering a new phase, after his government has begun taking decisive steps to resolve obstacles that have restricted the political scene for years."

This came during his reception on Friday in Tripoli of the President of Mauritania and the African Union, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Chairman of the African Union's Commission, Moussa Faki, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso.

Dbeibah hailed the visit, saying that it is a strong message of support for Libya at this critical time, adding: "We are determined during the next stage to move forward to achieve pivotal decisions in order to remove the obstacles that have distorted the path of stability, which we insist on achieving, and these measures will not be the last. The government is continuing strongly on this path, especially in matters of our national security."

"All of this is in the interest of our clear vision for the future of Libya, which must pass through the transitional stages and go directly to holding elections through a solid and fair legal basis."

African Union's delegation members reaffirmed their continued support for Libya at this critical stage, as Ghazouani said that Libya's stability will be reflected on the entire African continent, and the Union is committed to continuing to support it to achieve national reconciliation and sustainable development, adding that Libya's return to its natural role within the Union is essential.

Faki indicated that the African Union would continue to provide what is necessary to support Libya in its efforts to achieve security and stability, and that cooperation between them is not limited to the political aspect only, but extends to include development in various fields, adding that national reconciliation in Libya is the basis for building a sustainable future.

Gakosso also expressed his country's support for Libyan efforts, noting that the African Union will be a strategic partner for Libya and stressing that Libya is a pivotal country that has played an important role in helping the countries of the continent.
