Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Monday presided over a cabinet meeting, reviewing the progress on the government's initiative concerning the land and housing loans for youth.

A statement by the PM media office said that Dbeibah gave his orders to complete procedures related to residential lands and uncompleted apartments and to determine the group that could benefit from this service, stressing the need to establish process controls to start disbursing housing loans.

He said the housing-finance initiative needs genuine action and exceptional efforts for its success as he urged the relevant authorities to work actively in this direction.

Also joining the meeting was the Minister of Local Government Badr El-Din Al-Toumi, who confirmed the finalization of the first stage of registration.

According to Minister Al-Toumi, only 600,000 citizens out of one million who registered in the loans system had completed filling out the required data and documents.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Real Estate Registration Authority, the Director of the Public Property Authority, the Director-General of the Savings and Real Estate Investment Bank, and an advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL)
