Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Issa participated in the 50th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Cameroon, on August 29-30.
According to a statement released by the ministry on Saturday, the session was titled "Developing Transport Infrastructure within the OIC Framework: A Key Tool in Combating Poverty and Insecurity."
Issa held meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Mauritania, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Palestine, Riyad Mansour, Foreign Ministers of Niger, Bakary Sangaré, and Gambia, Mamadou Tangara, along with the Secretary-General of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ben Ayed. The discussions focused on the current agenda and bilateral relations between Libya and these countries.
Issa emphasized the need for concrete action to end the aggression and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and to hold the occupying forces accountable for their crimes.
He highlighted that reducing poverty and combating social insecurity in developing communities require a combination of economic and social measures complemented by strategic frameworks for sustainable development in the least developed countries.
Moreover, Issa stressed the importance of investing in transport infrastructure development to protect low-income families and ensure their access to essential services such as healthcare and education.
