An armed group attacked Tripoli's Ein Zara Prison, locally know as Al-Rwaimi, on Saturday.
The prison's management declared that drunken gunmen from Misrata's Al-Mahjoob brigade attacked the prison at night to set free one of the inmates.
Prison guards exchanged fire with the attackers and arrested four of them, the management said. One guard was also injured in the exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, Al-Mahjoob brigade denounced the attack confirming that the attackers violated the law and acted individually. They brigade also held its affiliated attackers accountable and promised to prosecute them.
