The Council of Elders and Notables of Tajoura has voiced its rejection of the outcomes of the recent reconciliation preparatory meetings supervised by the Presidential Council.

"The sole exceptional solution is going directly to parliamentary elections, where justice and integrity are achieved under a constitutional rule and an election law that shields the country against criminals candidates and those who want to put the country under a military rule," the council stated on Saturday.

The group said that national reconciliation is a public demand that must be led by legitimate representatives, calling the initial meetings held in this respect a "political sideshow" staged for narrow interests.

The statement urged Libyans to unite under the umbrella of the Islamic Sharia and law away from regional, regional, tribal and ethnic fanaticism.

The bloc said the Libyan people need to dust off their hands of corrupt politicians to build a state of justice and law.
