The Libyan Consul to Tunisia, Fadel Al-Qario, announced, on Saturday, July 10, the formation of an emergency committee, which is aimed at assisting stranded Libyan citizens in order to evacuate them from Tunisian territory through direct flights.

Hokomatona, a Facebook page affiliated with the Government of National Unity (GNU), stated that the decision came under direct instructions of Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, noting that the committee is charged with the responsibility to transport Libyans from Carthage International Airport in Tunisia.

However, all passengers are required to obtain Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for the Coronavirus, at least 24 hours prior to boarding, in order to prevent the spread of infection in the country.

The committee hopes to operate flights to both Tripoli and Benghazi from Tunisia, strongly stressing the significance of unification and cooperation with the airlines, with the emphasis on evacuating all stranded Libyans who wish to return to the country.
