The World Health Organization's (WHO) office in Libya announced on Sunday the arrival of support from the European Commission's Office for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection to support the health needs of Sudanese refugees in Al-Kufra city in southeastern Libya.
WHO said that the support of the European Commission office enables its emergency medical teams to provide healthcare services in Al-Kufra, as these services are vital to meet the health needs of Sudanese refugees who fled as a result of the ongoing instability and violence in their country.
WHO indicated that its emergency medical teams in Al-Kufra have provided more than 8,000 medical services to Sudanese female refugees from August 01 until December 21, thanks to the support of the European Commission's Office for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection.
Meanwhile, the head of the emergency room in Al-Kufra municipality, Ismail Al-Aida, said, "International organizations, including the United Nations, have not fulfilled their pledges not have they provided even 10% of the municipality's needs to help Sudanese refugees."
Al-Aida added in a press statement that the services provided by international organizations did not reach the level of the wave of displacement that Al-Kufra was suffering from, pointing out that the situation in the city had been seeing a continuation of waves of refugees from Sudan as a result of the ongoing war there.
