The European Union’s (EU) ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, reaffirmed on Sunday the EU’s continued commitment to “helping strengthen primary healthcare services for all Libyans across the country.”
This statement came after Orlando's meeting with the Minister of Health in the Government of National Unity, Ramadan Abu Janah, in Tripoli, as per Orlando’s post on his "X" account.
“We explored key areas to expand our cooperation, focusing on improving the delivery of local services,” Orlando said, adding, “We look forward to enhancing our strategic and technical coordination in the coming months.”
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the meeting included discussions on areas of cooperation between the ministry and the EU in the fields of migrant health, public health, and the improvement of primary healthcare services in Libya.
The discussion also covered mechanisms for joint cooperation to improve communication and coordination between the EU mission in Libya and the health sector, particularly in enhancing cross-border disease surveillance systems to prevent and combat epidemic outbreaks.
